01 / The platform

Introducing RampPilot™

Intelligent ground support. Human accountability.

RampPilot™ is AeroVolt GSE's next-generation autonomous baggage tractor development platform.

Designed for the evolving demands of airport ground operations, RampPilot integrates conventional baggage tractor functionality with advanced sensing technology, intelligent navigation capabilities, and connected fleet technologies.

Our approach to autonomy focuses on progressive capability development rather than immediately transitioning to fully driverless operations.

By combining intelligent technology with human oversight, our goal is to introduce autonomous capabilities responsibly while prioritizing operational safety, reliability, and accountability.

02 / Proposed technology

Intelligent Technology.
Real-World Applications.

Complementary technologies, being developed to work together. Select a component to explore its intended role.

3D LiDAR Sensing

Advanced LiDAR technology supports three-dimensional environmental perception, helping the system understand its surroundings and identify potential obstacles.

Precision Positioning

Integrated RTK/GNSS and inertial navigation technologies support vehicle positioning, heading estimation, and route awareness.

Industrial Vision Systems

Industrial cameras provide additional visual information to support environmental understanding and intelligent navigation.

Onboard Edge Computing

Onboard processing integrates information from multiple sensors to support perception, navigation planning, and autonomous functions.

Proposed system architecture. These descriptions reflect development intentions, not verified specifications or currently available autonomous capabilities.

03 / Safety by design

Safety Is Not an Afterthought. It's Our Starting Point.

RampPilot is being developed around the philosophy that autonomous technology should be introduced progressively and responsibly.

Rather than immediately pursuing unattended operation, our approach emphasizes defined operating conditions, human oversight, system readiness, and evidence-based advancement.

Operator Supervision

Initial autonomous capabilities are intended to operate with a trained operator onboard and available to take control.

Environmental Awareness

Integrated sensing technologies support awareness of the vehicle’s surrounding operating environment.

Controlled Response

The system is being designed to respond conservatively when unexpected conditions or anomalies are identified.

Operational Readiness

Equipment inspections, sensor checks, and technical verification are important elements of our safety-first approach.

Intended fault response

  1. STOP
  2. SECURE
  3. NOTIFY
  4. HOLD

When unexpected operating conditions arise, the intended response is to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop, secure it, notify the appropriate personnel, and hold until further action is authorized.

04 / Development philosophy

A Deliberate Path Toward Advanced Autonomy

Capability should follow evidence—not ambition alone.

  1. STAGE 01

    Conventional Operation

Establishing a dependable baggage tractor platform with conventional operator control.

  2. STAGE 02

    Intelligent Awareness

Integrating sensing, environmental perception, positioning, and data collection capabilities.

  3. STAGE 03

    Supervised Autonomy

Introducing defined autonomous functions while maintaining trained operator oversight and takeover capability.

  4. STAGE 04

    Future Autonomous Capabilities

Evaluating increasingly advanced capabilities as technology maturity, validated safety performance, operating conditions, and required authorizations permit.

These stages describe our development philosophy, not completed milestones or a deployment timeline. RampPilot remains in development. We are not claiming current Level 4 capability, certification, commercial availability, or approval for unattended operation.

05 / Intended applications

Designed for Airport Ground Operations

Potential applications for airport baggage towing automation, subject to development, validation, defined operating conditions, and required authorizations. Not a representation of available autonomous services.

  • Airport baggage towing
  • Baggage transfer between approved operational areas
  • Ground handling logistics
  • Authorized point-to-point towing routes
  • Future connected fleet operations
